Now the way back to my hotel is nothing but a bbm zombie walk, weaving through unfamiliar faces;  no longer feeling like Paul Hogan.  The hands tick faster here, so I finally understand why everyones seemingly in a race to be somewhere which in most cases is another hipster bar.  My canvas belt vibrates and with robocop smoothness I open it to a txt ..”me & my girls r going 2 Black Rabbit tonite, come!!!”.  *Sigh*  That episode of Seinfeld where Kramer wants to see how far they could go without refilling the gas suddenly replays through my mind. Assuming the three exclamation marks must be foreshadowing… I close the txt, open my google map and type in “Brooklyn”. (Written on the E train)

I can’t feel my face!

Literally cause it’s so cold out here, I can feel it in my chest.  As I walk down queen st. with my wool coat zipped past my chin, toronto feels different…but good different.  I’d say there’s an electricity within everyone, but it would sound kinda cheese.  There’s a confidence in the music industry here now, we’re indemand, we’re instyle…kind like how lightskinned guys felt when B2K was peaking.

20T.O. and beyond

I’ve spent the past week working on records for projects, and I’m excited because these are artists that I look up to in alot of ways!  I’m kinda disapointed that I’m getting to submit to R.Kelly’s sooo late in the project…He is definitely on my top3 list of artists to produce for, and being that I think he’s the greatest male r&b singer in history..there’s abit alot of added pressure. Buuuut I also was alerted that I have a Grammy pre-nomination for my work on “The Last Kiss” album!  This year I’ve learned if you surround yourself with postive people and thoughts, that’s what comes back to you.  I wish I had a Deepak Chopra type quote right now, ha.

Drake afterparty (for the America Most Wanted tour) at Circa was a zoo! Jeezy was out, Songz, Drizzy ofcourse with the pimp cane and the YM gang…which brought out droves of groupies. I don’t think I’ve seen so many girls trying to squeeze they way into vip, which was way too over-crowded as it was.

I love Toronto!

I think the most beneficial thing about Drake’s success thus far is not all the exec’s and A&R’s asking questions about the city…but the rebirth of hope and drive it’s put back into the Canadian urban scene.

This has been an amazing week for hip hop and I!  She got me my first #1 on both the Hip Hop/R&B Albums and Rap Albums Billboard charts.  Also #1 on Soundscan and Itunes.  I remember back in 2006 when Derek Brin (Canadian producer) got #1 for Jaheim’s “Ghetto Classics” album, I vowed to him to be the first Canadian producer to get the #1 Rap album on the Billboards. I feel proud more then anything, because I know the BST & Love that went into the past few years of getting me to this point…which is still only the start of my journey.

I’m feeling really inspired after getting back in Toronto after my Miami trip. Music scene seemed abit slower then it’s usually pace down there….I prolly shoulda just went to ATL. I really excited for people to hear what I’ve been upto lately…also gotta finish these two interviews up…and a mix…and some beats.
